Metal detector Minelab Gold Monster 2000
Description
More Precision. More Depth. More Gold. The GOLD MONSTER 2000 is Minelab's multi-frequency gold detector built for finding ultra-fine gold in mineralised ground. Powered by Multi-Au™ technology, it combines the sensitivity of multi-frequency VLF with PI-inspired signal processing to stay stable at high sensitivity in soils where single-frequency detectors struggle. Echo Wave™ Audio and the Gold Chance Indicator give you real-time feedback to tell gold apart from hot rocks and iron trash, so you spend less time digging junk and more time finding what matters.
Multi-Au™ Technology with Hybrid SMF-PI
Multi-Au™ is Minelab's simultaneous multi-frequency engine purpose-built for gold detecting. It runs multiple frequencies between 12 and 75 kHz at the same time, combining the fine sensitivity of multi-frequency VLF with signal-processing techniques inspired by Pulse Induction technology. The result is stable, deep detection across difficult mineralised ground without giving up sensitivity to the smallest nuggets.
Echo Wave™ Audio
Echo Wave™ Audio layers discrimination tones on top of the detection signal so you hear both at once. A high tone points to probable non-ferrous targets like gold. A low tone indicates probable ferrous targets such as hot rocks or iron. You get maximum sensitivity to fine gold while the audio itself helps you decide whether to dig.
Gold Chance Indicator
The Gold Chance Indicator is a real-time visual gauge on the display that estimates whether a detected target is more likely gold or ferrous trash. The bar fills right for a higher gold chance, left for a higher iron chance. Used alongside Echo Wave™ Audio and the Target ID number, it gives you a clearer picture of what is in the ground before you start digging.
Easy-Trak and Quick-Trak Ground Balance
Easy-Trak continuously tracks and adjusts ground balance automatically as you sweep, keeping the detector stable across changing soil conditions without any input from you. When you need to rebalance fast, Quick-Trak lets you do it manually by pressing and holding the Ground Type button while raising and lowering the coil. Between the two, the detector stays accurate whether you are crossing hot rocks, salt-conductive ground, or heavily mineralised patches.
Auto and Manual Sensitivity
You can choose from 10 manual sensitivity levels or let the detector set itself with Auto 1 or Auto 2. Auto 1 runs a more conservative setting for cleaner audio in noisy ground. Auto 2 pushes sensitivity higher for users who want maximum depth and can work with a little more background noise. The current sensitivity level is always shown on the display.
Auto Noise Cancel
Every time you power on the detector, it automatically scans for sources of electromagnetic interference including power lines and nearby electronics, then shifts its operating frequencies to reduce signal noise. The result is cleaner audio and more reliable target responses from the start of every detecting trip.
Large Target ID Display
The monochrome LCD shows a numeric Target ID from 0 to 99 based on the conductivity of a detected target. Smaller gold nuggets tend to read in the lower range, larger nuggets and coins higher up. The Target ID works best in combination with the Gold Chance Indicator and Echo Wave™ Audio to help you make a more informed decision on every target.
Coil
The standard GM2000-05 5" Round Double-D coil is waterproof to 1 m, making it suitable for detecting in shallow water and wet conditions. Its compact size makes it well-suited for tight spots and gives high sensitivity to the smallest gold nuggets. The control pod is rainproof and IP55-rated. An optional GM2000-10 10" Elliptical Double-D coil is available for covering more ground.
Compact Telescopic Shaft
The carbon-fibre and fibreglass telescopic shaft collapses to 65 cm for easy transport and extends to 138 cm to suit different heights. Camlock adjusters let you set the length quickly without tools. A Universal Shaft Adapter is included so the control pod and coil can be mounted on alternative non-metal shafts if needed.
Battery
Two removable lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are included. Runtime is approximately 8 hours. Charging from flat to full takes around 3.5 hours using the supplied universal AC charger. A car battery charger cable is also included for charging in the field.

GM2000-05 5" Round Double-D coil, armrest, telescopic carbon-fibre shafts, Universal Shaft Adapter, shaft clamps, control pod, 2 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, universal AC charger, car battery charger cable, wired earbuds 3.5 mm (1/8"), Getting Started Guide.
The GOLD MONSTER 2000 sits above the single-frequency Gold Monster 1000 in Minelab's gold detector lineup. Where the GM 1000 runs a fixed 45 kHz frequency and performs well in low-mineralisation soils, the GM 2000 uses Multi-Au™ simultaneous multi-frequency technology to maintain stable, high-sensitivity operation across a much wider range of soil conditions including heavily mineralised and salt-conductive ground. It is the right choice for prospectors working difficult ground, returning to sites that have been hunted out with older detectors, or looking to find ultra-fine gold that a single-frequency machine would miss.
